Luzon Development Bank, in celebration of its 55 years of personalized service as a thrift bank, kicked off their Employee Welfare and Development Program through their annual Summer Sports Fest activity.
Dubbed as 2016 Palarong Pinoy, this bank which had its roots in Laguna way back in 1961, formed several teams from different branches and departments to play, compete and eventually enjoy each other’s company while in contest in what were loved but long forgotten Filipino children’s games. 12 teams competed to beat time as they played “kadang kadang” or coconut shell race, “luksong lubid” or jumping rope, “piko” or hopscotch, “sipa” or kick which was a norm since the Spanish rule and related to Sepak Takraw in Asian games, “chinese garter” or Hip and free game for girls, “bato, bato, pik” or worldwide known as Rocks-Paper-Scissors and the usual Street basketball and volleyball.
The activity was fun-filled and the coordinators successfully made the event enjoyable, injury-free, well monitored and had served goo and nutritious food. Gatorade was one of the main sponsors of the event.
The employees’ cooperation and camaraderie to each other made the Summer Sportsfest successful in fulfillment of the adage by Mattie J.T. Stepanek, a poet, peacemaker and a philosopher who played. – Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
